    Couples Therapy

Couples easily fall in love but no one really ever teaches us what to do when it isn’t easy anymore. Hurts can build up and we don’t know how to get out of the constant cycle of of blame, resentment and retreat. How do we reconnect at times like this? How do we fully understand and get each other? How do we trust again? This is where we will go in our couples work to restore your confidence and love in each other again.

Couples Therapy - What to Expect When We Begin

I have a hybrid schedule of both in-person couples therapy and online telehealth sessions. Each session is 60 minutes, and our work together begins with a thoughtful, supportive process designed to help you feel seen—individually and as a couple. Weekly sessions are recommended initially.

In our first sessions, we’ll take time to really understand your relationship—where things feel stuck, where the pain points are, and what you’re longing for. From there, we’ll start building something new together.

Here’s what the early sessions look like:

Session 1: We’ll meet together to get a sense of your relationship as a whole—what brings you in, what feels hard right now, and what you hope will feel different.

Sessions 2 & 3: I’ll meet with each of you individually to explore your background—how your early relationships shaped the way you understand closeness, conflict, and emotional connection.

Session 4: We’ll come back together to begin mapping out your negative communication cycle—the patterns that keep pulling you apart. Once we understand the cycle, we can begin changing it, so that over time, you’re not just reacting to pain, but actually turning toward each other in a way that feels safer, more open, and more connected.

Therapy isn’t about fixing each other, it’s about learning how to show up differently, together. Over time, many couples find that communication becomes easier, trust begins to rebuild, and emotional closeness starts to grow again.
